The majority of my educational and professional life has been spent in film and TV production, but I never really let go of my love of art. I’m essentially a self taught painter with an occasional art class thrown in over the years.
I came to the realization at a certain point in my life, that I had become tired of the struggle to be creative in a group and dependent upon others to finance the work. So I left that life and turned to painting.
It is sheer joy to be madly creative in any way that my mood dictates. Lately, I have been exploring in paint, a couple of techniques I loved in film production. They are the manipulation of the depth of field and the use of strong lighting and shadows.
I feel that with these techniques I can create drama even in the still life of an apple. It’s all a sort of homage to my previous life.
